Veterinarian & Staff
Dr. Beth A. Buchanan
Dr. Buchanan is a native Floridian who has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1984. She received her undergraduate and veterinary degrees from The University of Florida (Go Gators!). She worked as an associate veterinarian in several practices before co-owning a cat hospital in Tampa. She eventually moved back over to the east coast. Dr. Buchanan worked here in Brevard county as a relief veterinarian while planning The Cat Doctor. "Dr. B.", as some call her, owns 11 cats! Five of the lucky cats live at our clinic. She loves all animals, but has a special passion for cats! The Cat Doctor opened in March of 2004. Dr. Buchanan felt that a hospital just for cats would be her dream job. She thinks that cats are such unique creatures, which makes them interesting to work with. Needless to say, her dream job became a reality.
Shannon, Veterinary Technician
Shannon has been working at The Cat Doctor since 2006 and has been in the veterinary field for 13 years. Cats are her first love so she has been a perfect fit here. She has become Dr. Buchanan's right hand "man" since she knows most of the clients and cats by name. Shannon and her husband have 3 cats, one who used to live at the clinic, and a sweet dog named Sadie.
Rachel is the friendly voice you hear when you call us. She has been with us since 2010 except for a year when she moved back to Chicago to take care of family business. She has a boyfriend and 3 children, two sons and a daughter. They also have a dog and 2 cats. She loves helping our clients and can usually answer your questions or concerns.
Joyce, Veterinary Technician
Joyce has been with us since the fall of 2016. She has worked at multiple animal hospitals over the past 15 years. She has 2 grown sons, 2 dogs and 2 cats. She loves living in Florida because her favorite past time is lying on the beach reading a book.
Alice, Certified Veterinary Technician
Alice began working with us part-time in October of 2017. She is here 3 afternoons a week. After working in several veterinary practices, Alice decided to get a degree in veterinary technology from St. Petersburg College and graduated in 2009. She took the veterinary technician boards that year and became certified. She and her husband have 3 dogs, 2 cats and a tortoise.
